Do you live in the Bromley area? Have you ever wanted to play the guitar? Look no further.
My purpose built, sound-proofed studio in Bromley allows me to tailor bespoke guitar lessons to students of all ages, levels and experience.
Having been a teacher for over 8 years, I know how valuable it is to structure guitar lessons for pupils to learn at their own pace, in a friendly environment that suits their individual needs.

Hi and welcome to this months newsletter and unfortunately it has been rather a sad one as my student Dr Teresa Jefferies passed away this month. Teresa had been having private lessons with me for many years and was a fantastic guitar player as well as being a fantastic person with a brain the size of the moon. Teresa was a scientist for the Natural History Museum of London as well as being an awesome musician, baker, guitar builder, singer the list go’s on. Me and several other of my students played at her funeral service which was brilliant and I just wanted to take a moment to remember her. You will be sadly missed T!.
@ The Studio
The studio is very busy and my home teaching option is proving a huge success with students loving the flexibility of having a lesson that suits them rather than when I can necessarily fit them into my register. If this is of interest to you please do drop mean email and i will be happy to give you any info you require.
A lot of my students are getting ready to take their Trinity Music exams this week so very best of luck to you all though I am sure they will all pass with flying colours as they have been working so hard towards it. Music exams are only part of the my teaching at the studio as a lot of my other students are studying all sorts of music and this month i have covered everything from No Doubt, Skid Row, Guns n Roses, Lydian Dominant Scales, Blues and of course Greensleeves!.
I have been gigging a lot with many of the top function bands I play with including Firefly, Superbad and 29 Fingers and have played huge mansions in the Kent country side as well as a circus big top. Here is me out with 29 Fingers who have a very party and tartan vibe going on!.
My funk band Soul Grenades having been playing a lot of gigs in and around London including the Bedroom Bar in Shoreditch as well as Pizza Express in Chelsea which you can see below
You can also catch us supporting Brooklyn Funk Essentials at the Jazz cafe on the 20th July. You can get tickets here on the Soul Grenades website
I also got to see the guitar wizard that is Steve Vai who was performing the whole of Passion and Warfare from start to finish. Was a greta night and took back to be a young guitar player practicing hard.
Have a good month all.
Hello to you all and apologies as its been a while since i last posted but life can get so busy sometimes. The studio has been keeping me busy as well as lots of gigs and school teaching as well as playing in a musical and working hard with Soul Grenades.
The studio has been really busy at the moment mainly due to a lot of my students preparing for their Trinity Music exams as well as lots of new starters. I am very pleased to say that every single one of my students passed their exams which ranged from the Initial Grade (a fully accredited exam that new students can take before their Grade 1) to Grade 4 and I received some of the best exam results yet so I wanted to say a big well done to all of my students who have worked very hard to achieve their results. If may be worth letting you know that Trinity have updated their guitar syllabuses which you can find out all about here http://shop.trinitycollege.com/shop/prod_series_list.asp?seriesID=100216. Here you can see my Grade 4 student Katy working hard on her pieces during our lesson.
As well as my classical students I have been busy teaching blues and rock as well as helping some students get started with the Rock School examinations which again are fully accredited examinations but tailored to the more rock and roll type of player.
Having guitar lessons at my teaching studio works very well for some people but for others its not so convenient so for the last few months i have employed there services of an ex student of mine Neil who has been providing home lessons for me. The option to have lessons at home gives you the opportunity to decide on the most suitable time or day that works for you. This system is working very well for the students in question so if you think you would be interested in this option then please do get in touch with me and i would be more than willing to help you book a lesson that works for you.
I have been out gigging as always with the awesome Firefly as well as Superbad and most recently we rocked out at Aspers Casino at the Westfield Shopping Centre. As well as that my band Soul Grenades have had some great gigs in around London as well as a Mothers day special at Pizza Express in Maidstone.
I found my self back in the studio with the legend that is Mark last week as he wanted to record some tracks for his album.
I also had the pleasure of playing with some fantastic musicians including the awesome and occasional Firefly drum dep Benjamine Essenhigh in the musical GHOST at the Bob Hope Theatre. The cast, crew and MD Hannah were on top form and i had a great week playing some rocking music as well as finding a great new pub in Eltham.
Thats about it for this month and if you think you would be interested in Guitar Lessons in Bromley either at the studio or at your home then drop me an email at email@example.com
Bromley Concert Chorus Christmas Gig
A very Happy New Year to you all i hope you had a wonderful Christmas and am as stuffed and well rested as my self. I had a great Christmas catching up with family and friends and got some brilliant presents and been out gigging.
Christmas kicked off with a great double concert featuring the London Concert Chorus conducted by George Tormann and featuring the delightful Jonathan Cohen on piano and organ. The concert was great fun and is all in aid of Bromley Mind charity which helps people with mental health issues in and around Bromley and Lewisham and this year they managed to raise £6000 so massive congrats to them all. Thanks to Kevin Sloane on bass and Chris Persiva on drums for a brilliant gig. Here is a link to the great work that Bromley Mind does, https://www.blmind.org.uk.
As well as eating far to much and drinking excessive amounts of red wine I was out rocking with Firefly for some Christmas gigs featuring miss Rosanna Colcough on vocals who I had the pleasure of also sharing my New Years Eve Gig with.
Firefly Gigging Hard
Happy New Years!!!
The studio is as busy as ever with everyone practicing hard for their Trinity grades that happen in December. The results are due any day now and some students are all ready practicing for their next grade in spring of this year.
Last year I gave the option of students having lessonS at their home and I am pleased to say the that the trial period has gone very well. Having lessons at home gives you the option to have the lesson at a time that fits in with your diary as well as meaning you can have the lesson in an environment you feel comfortable in. If you are interested in lessons please get in touch as there are places available for all times of the week.
Right I’m off to the gym!.
The studio has had several new students start this month and its great to see so many people so enthusiastic about learning to play the guitar. Some of these students have never even picked up a guitar before and its amazing to see the progress in only a matter of weeks where by they are all ready playing their first songs as well as the students who are learning classical guitar. Which reminds me the count down to the Trinity Music Grade Exams has begun with many of my private students studying hard for their grades as well as the many school students I teach for with the Bromley Youth Music Trust (BYMT) so I wanted to wish them luck. Grading for Trinity happens 3 times a year at a local exam centre (my students take their exams in Sidcup) and they are a great way to help students to focus as well as the sense of achievement in taking and passing an exam. If you have any questions about the exam process then fell free to drop me an email.
The HOME LESSONS trial is going really well and I have received a lot of interest as well as having several students having lessons in the comfort of their home at a time that suits them. If you are interested in this then please drop me an email and I will let you know all the details.
Christmas is fast approaching and now is a great time of the year to get some one special guitar lessons to help them rock in the new year. Get in touch for more info at firstname.lastname@example.org
I have had the pleasure of being out with the fantastic SUPERBAD band again this month. The guys are all great players and with our new singer FLO the band are sounding as tight as ever. You can check out there Facebook page here. /https://www.facebook.com/groups/1609998599219158/photos/

@ The Studio
The studio has been getting busier and busier which is great news and there has been a huge variety in the levels, ages and styles that I have been teaching. The start of the September school term is always manic time and I have found my self nearly running out teaching time at the studio however I am currently trialling a new teacher i have employed who will soon be staring home lessons in association with Keir Moore Guitar Teaching. This is a great step forward for both me and the students as the teaching times at my studio are not always ideal for every individual but now students can have the same quality of teaching but in their own homes at a time that suits them and their family best. I have only started this trial period this month so will be letting you know how it goes in next months blog. If you are interested in having guitar lessons at home please do get in touch and I would be more than happy to discuss with you. I do still have a couple of slots free at the studio on Wednesdays and Tuesdays.
As I said the studio its self is really busy at the moment and I have not only been welcoming all the new students but also been preparing and entering all my current students for their Trinity Music Exams which take place at the end of November. If you are interested in entering for an exam or would just like some more details about it then feel free to email me with any questions.
I have been gigging a lot through September with some top function bands including 29 Fingers, Firefly and Superbad. The gigs have been great and I managed to grab a video of The Fingers smashing out Bruno Mars Uptown Funk.
I have also been really busy with Soul Grenades my originals funk band and this month we have been busy in the GTA Studios recording our new EP due for release on the 29th of October. We are just finishing up some mixing and BV’s but it is sounding awesome and really looking forward to getting it out. Here is a few shots from us in the studio
Me laying down some guitar
Chris wondering what to do with the drums
I also managed to record probably the best guitar part ever which you can see here….
As well as recording our EP in time for our release gig at the 229 club in London we have been shooting a video to go with the title track of the EP “Sunshine”. It was a long day but there are worse places to chill out in. Here is a collection of some of the shots of the day and hopefully by my next blog I should have the video up and ready to go.
As well this month i had time to pop into the Mike Panos blues jam at the Greyhound in Keston (2nd Wednesday of the month) as well as jamming with the Kritian Baker all-stars (featuring Dukes Of Havoc’s Julian Mc Lovin on drums) at the Change of Horses jam night. I will also be giggin with the Kritian Baker all-stars this friday the 16th at the ONeils Pub in Bromley featuring Mr Kirk Fletchers drummer and all round nice guy Wez the drummer so pop in if you fancy a beer.
Write off to reheasal and more tune writing for Soul Grenades, have a good month.
@ The Studio
The studio has been getting very busy and I have had a large influx of new students starting which is great news. I have had some beginners start as well as some older advanced players so I have been teaching everything from 3 blind mice to Get The Funk Out by Extreme which has been 2 extremes but go’s to show the variety in levels of my students. There are a few spaces left after school hours around 4 and 5 pm so please do get in touch if you are interested in guitar lessons in Bromley. I am preparing to go back to school teaching for the new term as I teach in schools for The Bromley Youth Music Trust and this means I have just taken my refresher course in Protecting Children which is necessary when teaching in schools as well as having a full CRB check.
Gigging hard with Mr James Mc Master
A great Indian wedding with Superbad
So August is prime wedding season time and this month I have been gigging a lot and have seen many many brides, drunken grooms and enough dad dancing to last me a lifetime but I did have some great gigs. I have been out with The Beatnicks, Superbad, Firefly, SF6 and more and they are all a great bunch so many thanks guys.
I also managed to catch this video of Firefly playing Sweet Child O Mine with the incredible Wez Johnson on drums who is shortly to be touring with amazing blues guitar player Kirk Fletcher.
I was also well over due a pedal board makeover and so decided to delve into the world of pedal switchers and have my board rebuilt. I am not a big gear head but the basics of the foot switcher (Muiscomlab Lite M6) is that all of my pedals can go into it and I can turn any of them on or off as well as changing midi and switching channels on my amp. I had a go at sorting it out my self but after several days of flipping through manuals and trying to strip wires I contacted Darren Taggart who did a wonderful job in sorting it all out and writing it up and can’t thank him enough. If you need any guitar work done I can highly recommend him and you can find a link to his website here http://www.darrentaggartguitar.co.uk. Here is a couple of pics of before and after!
I mentioned last month that I had been composing some music for an English Phonics School in Singapore, well the video is now up and had over 14,000 views so far so go check it out here.
Have a nice month and see you in September.
@ The Studio
The studio has quite an influx of students this month even though July and August are always a bit quite. I have noticed that the majority of the new people starting are looking to keep their studies going through the summer holidays and for those who are creeping for exams but don’t want to take 2 months of from lessons. I have also had some new beginners start which is all ways encouraging and i have also had several older students start who have been playing a few years but want some direction. The studio has parking outside and we provide a waiting area with tea and coffee facilities so if you are thinking of staring lessons or just want to come down and have a chat then please do get in touch. The next set of Trinity Music Exams is in December but application forms need to be in by September so if you are thinking of taking an exam do get in touch. I have some availability through the summer months also as i am a bit more flexible with time due to not teaching at school.
As you can see this month it is very much “wedding season” and i have been gigging a lot over the last few weeks with a variety of bands including The 29 fingers, Firefly and SF6. Gigs will keep me busy up until the end of October and have been playing a huge variety of songs ranging from Bruno Mars to Michael Jackson and Earth Wind and Fire.
As well as gigging I have finished up teaching at school for the summer term which gives me a chance to work on composition. I have had a few different jobs come in recently ranging from an original film to as Asian English school which had seen me writing music to nursery rhymes which was a new one and when I ended up in the studio I found at the technician (Dave) was the engineer behind such hits as the cartoon PINGU!. I have always enjoyed composition and have always written for other artists as well as my self and various bands I have played in over the years but I have always had passion for film music so I have re written the music for The Bourne Ultimatum Movie Trailer which you can check out here. If you need any music written for any project you are working on do feel free to drop me an email.
As you may remember i also wrote several songs for up coming country singer Jeannine Barry and her EP is now available on iTunes. I co wrote the title track Of The Hook as well as Lonely Road and Carousel. You can check her out here http://www.jeanninebarry.com/27-off-the-hook.
I have also been out a few jams this week with one being exceptionally funky in Lewisham where i got to jam with fellow Soul Grenader Milan and the Accent Collective who you can find out about here https://www.facebook.com/AccentsCollective. I also played with the Mike Panos blues band for their monthly jam and wanted to congratulate one of my students Robbie for getting up and playing at his first jam, well done mate. He also took this video of me playing a bit of blues with the guys.
Thats about it of this month but i will see you next month with more.
@The Studio – Keir Moore Guitar Lessons Bromley
The studio has been busy this month with my regular students all working hard towards their own personal goals that at the moment range from some of my younger students preparing for their next Trinity Classical Guitar Exams as well as some of my more “mature” students getting ready to play their first jam night. If you are unfamiliar with the term jam night let me explain. It normally consists of a house band who play the majority of the music and then ask other players to come up and join them to play some songs. Several of my students who have never played in a band or even played live are now starting to get involved with these nights and i think its great for expanding them as a player. Some times you play well and some times you get your arsed kick but i think this is all important in becoming a better player. Here is me at the Mike Panos blues night at The Greyhound Keston, more info can be found here https://www.facebook.com/greyhound.keston?fref=nf&pnref=story.
I have recently started several student s on the Rock School exam syllabus. These are a great alternative for students who are not focused join the classical side of playing as the tracks are contemporary electric guitar songs with a full band backing track on CD which makes for a much more enjoyable way to practice for their exams. The exams are fully accredited and examinations take place 3 times a year, for more info you can check out the website here http://www.rockschool.co.uk
I currently have a few spaces left so if you are interested in please do get in touch at the contact section of the website for more info.
Other wise this month i have been gigging a lot with several different bands. Firstly there was a great couple of gigs with Superbad an awesome funk band run by fellow Soul Grenader Dave Henley. The set list is fantastic and they are all a great bunch of players and i managed to film a little of our last gig here.
I have also been out with my regular band Firefly and also with SF6 which featured one of the most mind-blowing close up magicians i have ever seen.
My band funk band Soul Grenades have also been gigging this month and had the pleasure of playing at Pineapple Jam which is an online community run by a collective of DJ’s, Producers and music enthusiasts to share their passion for all things funky. Was a great sweaty night off funk and after some technical difficulties we rocked out and the crowd were great. Some one whom i have no idea managed to film some of it, who ever you were thanks!.
Cool well have a good month and i catch you all soon.
@The Studio – Keir Moore Guitar Lessons Bromley
It’s been a great month since I opened the Bromley studio full-time and have started teaching guitar to a lot of new students, which is encouraging. I have been teaching everything from Grade 1-8 to sweep picking with a new student who is into his old school guitar shred, Beach Boys, Rock School Exams and a couple of complete beginners one of which is learning their first chords and the other is learning there very few notes as they are only 5 years of age. I am still waiting for the hard copy of my students certificates to come through from the Trinity Music Board but i was sent this picture from my student Samuel Lovelock who passed his INITIAL Guitar Grade with Distinction so wanted to say great work Sam.
Also mention to my student Ella Pettitt who has been learning Apache by The Shadows and i think you can agree that from this video she is becoming a fantastic guitar player. Well done Ella
If you or anyone you know is interested in guitar lessons do please tell them to contact me via the Contact page.
OTHER NEWS. . .
This month i have been out gigging with Soul Grenades playing all things funky and we had a gig at The Pack & Carriage in Euston. It was our first gig with new singer Sabina and keys player Dave and it went really well and I have managed to find this video from the gig. Make sure you get over to the website Soul Grenades for more info.
I was also asked (quite last-minute) to play guitar for the BYMT production of Whistle Down The wInd by Andrew Lloyd Webber. I really enjoyed it and there was some great music in there and some fantastic young musicians playing in the band. I don’t do a lot of musicals but loved the challenge and managed to get all the right parts played in time and the right time which is always good.
Otherwise this month i have been out gigging with top function band The 29 Fingers and Firefly and have a lot of gigs coming up in the diary starting this week so had better get practicing. I also had time to practice this for a student which is the solo from the great band Mr Big and its the solo from Brother Lover Little Boy!
Have a good month and catch you soon.
I am now at my teaching studio in Bromley full-time and as a result have had a large influx of new students who have ranged from a retired teacher wanting to learn Fleetwood Mac to a younger student who has taken his first steps into grades.
Talking of all things Grades I would like to say a massive congratulations to my students who took their TRINITY MUSIC EXAMS as they all passed with flying colours and some of them gained the highest scores I have seen so again well done to you all. Grades offer students a great chance to focus their learning and provides them with a goal which some students can find really helps in their studies. I will soon be uploading pictures of my students with their certificates so keep an eye out.
SPECIAL THANKS to my student Dr Teresa Jefferies who has done the most magical upgrading of my old battered strat. She has been gigged hard over the years and was well overdue an upgrade and for those who are interested she now has Dimarzio Area 58 & 61silent vintage pickups, wilkinson VS100 trem and graphite nut. Plays like a dream so thank you very much T.
